The name we have choosen for this program is TEVA, which stands for Team building, Education, Values and Adventure.

 TEVA is an exciting way for 13, 14 and 15 year olds to challenge themselves in their CJ experience.  TEVA campers will live in Camp's NEW Yurt Village!  It is set slightly apart from the main camp area and offers two living spaces and one meeting space.

What is a yurt?

It is a self-supporting round, domed shelter used by nomadic tribes across central Asia.  Traditional yurts are constructed of a circular wooden frame with a felt cover.  Our yurts will have a door frame, lattice wall sections, roof poles and a crown.  You may think "tent" when you see a yurt.  However, yurts are much stronger due to it's circular structure combined with wood frame and durable fabric cover.

Tell me more about the program?

TEVAs will spend time at the beginning of their 2-week session getting to know one another through group initiatives and low ropes course activities.  We feel this age group should have involvement in planning and structuring their stay at CJ.  This can include traditional camp activities, as well as special activities such as beginning to learn about leadership skills, a wilderness trip, high ropes course, visit to a Native American pow-wow, trail bike ride, or service project for Camp or in the local community.  The possibilities are endless!

What happened to the LIT program?

We think these older campers need not necessarily be a part of a program that suggests only a track toward CJ Staff.  They will thrive in an environment in which they have more input as to what they would like to see and do in their two weeks.  For teens who have chosen not to be part of the Leadership Program, specifically, Camp has strived to provide high-quality traditional camp programs.  However, campers ages 13-15 seem to be looking for more.  Think of TEVA as providing what LIT has done, plus includes experiences that are not focused solely on the drive to become a CJ staffer.  TEVA will provide all that the LIT program provided and more!
